History of the St. Lawrence Eager Beavers 4-H Club

 Established in 1959

The club was founded by Barbara Wenninger in 1959. The Club had 8 project leaders and 45 members. The club became very active with community projects, parades, county programs and many more.

Some of the main projects were dairy, clothing, foods, arts, woodworking and gardening. The club meetings took place at the St. Lawrence Church Hall. In 1969 Barbara Wenninger asked to step down as leader and Anita Beder took her place as General Leader. In 1990 Agnes Wagner stepped up as co-general leader and worked with Anita Beder until 1992 when Anita stepped down as leader. Agnes Wagner stayed on as club leader with the help of co-leaders Mary Schwendimann, Ruth Flasch, Nancy Boden, Brenda Kannenberg, and Donna Gross, who stepped up with the club as membership grew from 50 to over 80 members over the years. Today we have Agnes Wagner and Christine Gehring as co-leaders for the club with the help of many other leaders and families, the club stays very active.

Over the years we have some of the same activities which included parades, square dancing, paper drive, food sale, pizza making, window displays, trips, fruit sale, gift to elderly and many new activities also.   We are looking forward to many more years to work on “Making the Best Better”.
